A transaction captured in the field has three states: captured on the device, stored on the server, posted to the system of record. Most reports only show the third -- which means the report sits behind the field by exactly the length of the delay. Until it posts, the depot cannot pick it, invoice it, or move the credit.
Ask which state a transaction is in, and the usual answer is that we think it is posted.
